MyREGULATE is a valuable ferment concentrate from germinated, activated barley, which is “harvested” in the active optimum, that is, when the concentration of the enzymes is highest. SpikaZYM plus contains 1,000,000 PPI (Protease Picomole International) of the natural proteolytic (i.e. protein-degrading) enzyme prolyl oligopeptidase. The speciality of prolyl oligopeptidase is the cleavage of particularly resistant proline compounds. Proline is an amino acid that the organism can only cleave and degrade very limited by itself. Proline occurs as “glue protein” in grain gluten and causes various types of intolerance in many people. Experience has shown that a considerable part of the otherwise healthy populations has a limited tolerance for the grain-specific peptide gluten. However, prolyl oligopeptase also digests other proteins, so that it can be used, for example, to improve protein utilisation in a high-protein sports diet or in geriatric persons.
SpikaZYM plus provides prolyl oligopeptitase for proline cleavage, which is enzymatically active in the universal pH range and can therefore be systemically effective in different compartments of the body, i.e. not only in the intestine, but it can also cleave proline-containing peptide structures in the tissues or in the blood. The complex formulation together with holy thistle or milk thistle is intended to stimulate the power of the liver, which is always involved in the body’s own degradation and excretion processes. Two partners who are therefore ideally made for each other! The combination with lecithin in turn favours the bioavailability of many plant substances for our organism.

Product background
Like many enzymes, prolyl oligopeptidases such as those contained in SpikaZYM plus have a high specificity and are also produced by a large number of immune-active cells. Prolyl oligopeptidases are found in plant and animal organisms, in fungi and numerous bacteria. It has recently become known that they are also produced by lactobacilli in the human large intestine, which, however, requires a healthy microbiome.
They belong to the large group of serine proteases that are specialised in cleaving smaller prolamine peptides, i.e. short amino acid compounds that are below the size of proteins and contain the amino acid proline, which is hard to digest. Oligopeptidases are also involved in numerous immunological processes. They not only have a digestive effect, but like most proteases, they also have a systemic effect. Like many proteases, they are involved in the regulation of metabolic cascades such as the RAAS mechanism, which is of great importance not only for the regulation of blood pressure and fluid balance, but also, as has only recently become known, for the orchestration of our entire immune defence.
